Nostalgia and a brilliant cup of Indian Tea!
I belong to a place where milk and milk products are in abundance. So making fabulous tea is sort of mandatory and customary for our families.
The recipe which I want to share today is something which has been refined for many - many years, by my mom and by her mom and so on.
I will take you through the process because for me, thinking of tea means thinking of my mother brewing tea in the kitchen for us.
She gets up before anyone else in the morning. She will take a pan and pour water in it. Then she will add jaggery by slicing it with a knife. She waits for the jaggery to dissolve totally and emit that flavour through water.
Then comes some ginger and tulsi leaves which will add another layer of flavour to the drink. She allows the ginger to defuse for a minute and then adds black tea.
Another 2 minutes to get the most out of the tea leaves.
Finally some raw and fresh from the cow’s milk is added to it (remember my place is abundant in milk products, we get fresh produce and not packed ones)
Post adding the milk, she will bring it to a boil. Then add the sugar, another boil and Voila!
Super tea is absolutely ready!
